Former Collingham cricketer and footballer David Syers has secured a 10 month deal with League 2 side Bradford City after scoring as a substitute in the Bantams' win over Nottingham Forest.

SA Sports Coaching has sponsored the junior teams at Collingham for the 2010 season. As well as co-ordinating the coaching for the junior section, SA Sports Coaching has also sponsored the playing shirts for the age group teams.
2010 was a good year for the junior teams with the under 9’s and under 11’s both finishing 2nd in their league, only losing one game each. The under 13’s finished 3rd in their league, losing just 3 games.

Last week SA Sports Coaching ran 2 multi-sports courses in Bramley, a 4 day course at Bramley Primary School and a 5 day course at Raynville Primary School. 60 children attended at Bramley Primary and 30 were at Raynville where the children learned new skills in Rugby, Cricket and Football before putting their skills into practice in games and tournaments.

Boys and Girls from in and around Ilkley have attended the SA Sports Coaching 3 day summer course at Olicanian CC this week. The children have had the opportunity to learn from experienced players and coaches such as Sam Anderson (ECB Level 3 Coach), James Finch (Suffolk CCC and ex Yorkshire CCC) and Dalton Polius (West Indies U19 international). They have received expert advice on all aspects of the game through a combination of drills, games, match practice and nets.

During the Spring Bank half-term children from the Ilkley area along with pupils from Westville House School attended a multi-sport and activity camp at the school. The camp ran for 4 days of the half-term week from 9.00am to 4.30pm with each day being action packed and fun filled. Activities included football, dodgeball, arts and crafts, quizzes, DVD afternoons, tag rugby, uni-hoc, kwik cricket and much more.

There was a mix of male and female coaches leading the camp, all with many years experience working with children, who helped make the week fun for everyone involved.

During the summer holidays, SA Sports Coaching will be giving young cricketers in Yorkshire a great opportunity to improve their games. They will be running 2 one to one coaching days, at Olicanian CC in Ilkley and Driffield Town CC. There will be 10, hour long slots available throughout each day where the young cricketers will be able to work on any aspect of their game with expert advice and drills from Sam Anderson and James Finch.

This week Sam Anderson and James Finch delivered an Inset cricket coaching session at Denstone College in Staffordshire. 14 teachers from the top Independent school attended the session, where they learned new drills and coaching techniques to pass on to their age group sides. Head of cricket at Denstone College, Jane Morris said of the session "It was excellent, all our teachers have picked up some new skills tonight.

The children at the Joe Bedford Rugby camp which is running this week at Woodhouse Grove School had a surprise yesterday when some of the stars of Rugby turned up at the course. Joe Ford and Tommy McGee, who play fly half and prop for Leeds, passed on some tips to the young Rugby players on Wednesday afternoon. Then, along with Joe Bedford, they had to answer some tough questions from the kids in the classroom before signing autographs!

The Ilkley Easter cricket course took place this week at Westville House School. Boys and girls aged between 7 and 11 attended the 3 day course to perfect their skills before the new season. The young cricketers learned new skills in batting, bowling and fielding from Sam Anderson and James Finch. The children also benefited from some advice on cricket the West Indian way when Dalton Polius (West Indies U19 player) offered some tips on the final day.

SA Sports Coaching is running a one on one cricket coaching day during the Easter holidays.  The sessions will take place at Westville House School in Ilkley from 10am - 4pm on Friday 16th April.  James Finch will be coaching spinners and fast bowlers, while Sam Anderson coaches wicket keepers and batsmen.  A one hour slot will cost only £30 and will include a DVD to take away with footage from the session.
